High-Quality Crystal, Glass, And Porcelain Door Knobs

Add a unique, vintage look to your home with crystal, glass, or porcelain door knobs. We offer a wide variety of door knobs with many options to suit any door in your home.

Crystal And Clear Glass Door Knob Styles

Glass and crystal door knobs first became popular in the United States during World War I due to metal shortages, and homeowners fell in love with their charm and beauty. Today, faceted crystal and glass door knobs are often used to compliment antique, elegant-styled homes with ornate vintage touches.

Crystal knobs can also lend a unique and stylish touch to more modern homes - especially crystal knobs that are sleek and smooth without facets. Whatever look you’re going for, adding crystal or glass door knobs to your home will surely make a statement.

Porcelain Door Knob Styles

Like crystal and glass, porcelain door knobs tend to lend a vintage feel to a home’s interior. Porcelain door knobs first became popular in the mid-1800s and continued to be a popular choice throughout World War I and II, when, like glass, it was a cheaper, more readily available option than metal.

Porcelain door knobs are smooth and can be colored. Porcelain door knobs are often used in homes with an antique style, but they can also lend a unique style to modern homes.

Privacy, Passage, And Dummy Door Knobs

Our crystal and porcelain door knobs come in three styles: privacy, passage, or dummy. Privacy door knobs have a locking mechanism and are generally used for bedroom or bathroom doors, where you may want to ensure privacy. Passage door knobs don’t have a locking mechanism and are used in spaces where privacy is not required, such as hallways, living rooms, or closets. Dummy door knobs are “fake” knobs that don’t turn and are typically used on doors that only need to be pushed or pulled.

Most metal privacy door knobs have a locking mechanism on the knob itself. To maintain the aesthetic of crystal and porcelain door knobs, the locking mechanism on a privacy door knob will not be on the knob itself, but on the rosette mounted behind the knob. Thus, whether you choose a privacy or passage door knob, the knob itself will look the same.

Rosette Options For Crystal And Porcelain Door Knobs

A rosette is the metal plate behind the door knob that mounts the knob to the door. It serves two functions: it looks pretty and adds an additional style element to your doorknob, and it conceals the internal mechanism of the doorknob. When selecting a crystal or porcelain door knob, you will be able to choose from a variety of styles and finishes for the rosette. This means that you can still maintain a cohesive look with the other hardware in your home while choosing a more unique door knob.

Door Knob Sizing

In order to ensure that your door knob fits your door correctly, you will need to check a few measurements on your door prior to ordering a knob. These are:

  • Bore Hole: measure the diameter across the widest part of the circular bore hole where the knob will go.
  • Backset: measure from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole. This will usually be either 2 3/8" or 2 3/4".
  • Door thickness: measure the distance between the front and back sides of the door.

Cleaning And Caring For Crystal And Porcelain Door Knobs

The most important way to care for your crystal or porcelain door knobs is to keep them inside. These are not designed for use on external doors, and they can be damaged by the elements.

Crystal door knobs attract a lot of dust, but due to their translucent appearance, the dust can be hard to see. Crystal and porcelain door knobs can be cleaned with an all-purpose cleaner, but it’s best to clean them with mild detergents or natural cleaning agents, like vinegar, whenever possible.
