Front Door Lock Sets & Entry Door Handle Sets From Access Residential Hardware

Handlesets offer a striking and decorative look to entry doors. The first thing guests see when they come to your home is your front door. Make a great first impression with a stylish, high-quality handleset or entry set from Access Hardware. We offer various handlesets and entry sets in different styles to suit your needs.

Typically, door handles and entry sets contain a horizontal lever you pull down. If accessibility is important to you, you may want to go with a door handle, as door knobs are not considered compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

When choosing your exterior entry sets, you may consider keeping a uniform aesthetic between your door handles and knobs. You can achieve this by selecting the same finishes or door plate shape. Your choice is not only about your taste or style. It's critical to consider functionality and accessibility when making a selection.

Door Security

A mortise lock is a more durable and secure option for handlesets. They are made with a heavier-duty chassis and a locking mechanism recessed into the door. Mortise locks make break-ins more difficult and prevent penetration from cracking the lock open with a crowbar.

Double cylinder deadbolts require a key to be turned inside and outside the door to lock or unlock it. This deadbolt is more secure and less likely to be picked or bumped open.

Considering Your Front Door

When choosing your handleset, you'll need to consider your door type. A single-cylinder handleset is perfect for a single door. In contrast, a double-cylinder handleset is ideal for a glass front door. If you have a double door entry, you'll need two handlesets - one for each door.

Types of Handlesets We Offer

At Access Hardware, we offer a wide selection of handlesets to choose from. You can find handlesets in different finishes, shapes, and styles to suit your needs.

You can also find handlesets with different locking mechanisms for added security along with handleset combos that include a deadbolt lock. If you're looking for a handleset that offers dependable security and durability, you may want to consider a mortise lockset.

Handleset FAQs

What are the easiest handlesets to install?

Handlesets dress your front door. Not only can you choose between many different styles and finish choices, but there are also numerous handleset options for you.

The easiest handlesets to install are typically single-cylinder handlesets. They are easy to use and require only a key to unlock and lock the door from the outside.

What is a standard size for a door handleset?

The standard handleset is 2 3/8" or 2 3/4". Most doors are 2 3/8" backset, but some [mostly exterior doors] have a 2 3/4" backset. This is the most common size and should fit most standard doors. If you have a particularly large or small door, you may need to purchase a handleset designed specifically for your door size.

How do you measure handles or entry sets?

You’ll want to start by measuring the thickness of the door. On an exterior door, it will generally be 1 3/4," but some doors are thicker. Then measure the backset of your door by measuring from the edge of the door to the centerline of the deadbolt hole. This measurement determines your latch bolt length, and the standard sizes are either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4". Measure the boreholes, the holes where the lockset fits, by measuring from the center of the top bore hole to the center of the bottom bore hole.
